About the Campaign

Breakaway from Heart Disease™ is a national campaign to help change the course of heart disease in the United States. Amgen, dedicated to the fight against heart disease, has created Breakaway from Heart Disease™ to provide the best tools and resources to improve cardiovascular health.

HEART DISEASE IS A LEADING HEALTH CONCERN IN THE UNITED STATES1

Breakaway from Heart Disease™ has teamed up with Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana, the American Heart Association (AHA), and Schwinn® Bicycles to empower Americans to reduce their risk of heart disease by getting active and eating healthy starting today.

Joe's Story

"Heart disease runs in my family. That's why I ride for tomorrow, today."

Like so many other Americans, Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana and his wife Jennifer both have a history of heart disease in their families. Joe himself has high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

Joe and Jennifer know first-hand the importance of learning about family history through their personal experience and want to encourage others to do the same. They have teamed up with Breakaway from Heart Disease™ to motivate families across the United States to have important discussions about their family's heart health history and get active to reduce their risk of heart disease.
